The thing about being immortal is that you get bored. Any diversion is welcome, and weddings are a perfect excuse to let your divine hair down.

When the goddess Thetis married the mortal Peleus, it seemed like a good idea not to invite the goddess Eris (Discord). But she was extremely miffed she wasn't allowed to join the festivities, and she felt if she couldn't have fun, then nobody would. She threw a golden apple in the room with the inscription 'kallisti', 'for the fairest'. Since goddesses tend to be pretty and arrogant, they started fighting immediately. To save the party, Zeus told the three most beautiful goddesses to find the mortal Paris and ask him to decide who was the fairest.

Hera, Athena and Aphrodite had each offered Paris a bribe should he pick them. He ended up chosing Aphrodite, who had promised him the most beautiful woman in the world. So Paris eloped with Helen, and the rest is history.

This is hand-doodled and then photoshopped.

i like the colors and the design. overall a really great pic. i learned about that story in english class. we had to read it and re-write it as our own story. i hated it cause the orginial stroy is so good, and my verson sounded so stupid.

Nice swirly apple design... and a good try a gold..
Although due to a printing error the actual inscription roughly translates to "Batterys not included".
